K-BATTERY SHOW 2026: From Materials and Equipment to Battery Safety — An Overview of the Battery Ind

관리자 2026-10-21 Number of views 48

Alphacell International Co., Ltd. visited K-BATTERY SHOW 2026, held at KINTEX on September 9.

K-BATTERY SHOW is an exhibition covering a broad range of materials, components, and equipment across the secondary battery industry. Exhibits include key battery materials such as cathode and anode materials, separators, and electrolytes, as well as manufacturing and inspection equipment, charging systems, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and recycling technologies.

This year's exhibition also highlighted technologies related to the entire battery lifecycle, including ESS and EV charging, battery fire prevention and response, and battery reuse and recycling.

1. An Exhibition Focused on Materials and Manufacturing Equipment

One of the most notable observations was the strong emphasis on materials and manufacturing equipment, rather than finished battery cells and battery packs. A significant portion of the exhibition was dedicated to materials such as electrode and anode materials, along with equipment for cell manufacturing, inspection, and measurement.

We also observed a range of equipment related to battery manufacturing processes and thermal management, including battery slurry mixing equipment from Revorox and ESS cooling chillers from Duksan Cotran.

These exhibits highlighted how the secondary battery industry is becoming increasingly specialized across the entire value chain, encompassing not only cells and packs but also materials, manufacturing processes, inspection, and thermal management.

 2. Growing Focus on Battery Safety and Diagnostics

Technologies related to battery safety were another notable feature of the exhibition.

B-I Industrial presented solutions for the early detection of fires and abnormal gas emissions at ESS facilities and battery-related sites, using explosion-proof detectors and gas detection systems.

Battery Buddy also introduced a battery education solution combining physical batteries with augmented reality (AR).

These examples demonstrate how the scope of the battery industry is expanding beyond manufacturing technologies into adjacent fields such as safety, education, and diagnostics.

3. Next-Generation Materials and Battery Technologies

In the materials sector, the exhibition featured not only conventional cathode and anode materials but also technologies involving next-generation battery materials.

In particular, FOR.M showcased silicon carbide (SiC) anode material, reflecting ongoing efforts to develop materials that can replace conventional graphite-based anodes or improve battery performance.

The technology was understood to be progressing through sample development and evaluation toward potential mass-production applications.

This highlights the continuing importance of advanced materials in efforts to improve energy density, charging performance, and other key battery characteristics.

4. An Expanding Battery Industry Ecosystem

The exhibition demonstrated that the secondary battery industry extends far beyond battery cell manufacturing.

It encompasses an interconnected ecosystem spanning:

Materials → Cell Manufacturing → Inspection and Measurement → Battery Packs → Charging → Safety and Diagnostics → Reuse and Recycling

As the ESS and EV markets continue to develop, technologies that help manage battery safety and service life are also gaining importance. These include fire prevention and detection, thermal management, diagnostics, and battery reuse and recycling.

Together, these developments illustrate the increasingly broad scope of the battery industry and the growing importance of technologies that support battery performance, safety, and lifecycle management.

 Conclusion

Our visit to K-BATTERY SHOW 2026 provided valuable insight into the current direction of the secondary battery industry.

While materials and manufacturing equipment remain important areas of technological advancement, the industry is also expanding into battery safety, thermal management, diagnostics, and recycling across the entire battery lifecycle.

Going forward, the battery market is expected to evolve through closer integration across multiple fields, including cells, battery packs, materials, manufacturing processes, safety management, and reuse.

Alphacell International will continue to monitor technological developments and market trends in the global battery industry and share relevant insights.
